Community Fellowship, camaraderie, togetherness and communion have always been at the center of the very being of God through the shared life of Father, Son and Spirit. Although meaningful relationships are rare in our fast-paced world, genuine friendships can be and should be the norm. In our desire to develop honest and close relationships we are committed to serve and care for each other in a way that will demonstrate the love of Jesus to others (John 13:34-35). Prayer The New Testament church was devoted to prayer (Acts 2:42). God not only desires His people to pray, but He also hears and answers prayer (Matthew 7:7-11; James 5:13-18). Prayer clearly demonstrates our belief that things are accomplished “not by might or power, but by the Spirit of God” (Zechariah 4:6). Therefore, the ministries and activities of Jubilee Church are characterized by a reliance on prayer in their conception, planning, and execution. Team Leadership Christ has given various gifted leaders to serve His church as a team (Ephesians 4:11-12). Not all the leadership needed by the church is found in one man; therefore, Jubilee Church has implemented a team of leaders in order to complete what is lacking. Team Leadership also allows the church to give away its leadership to serve other churches and church plants since the church’s leadership is not dependant on one person. Apostolic & Prophetic Foundations According to Ephesians 2:20 the church is built ultimately on Jesus Christ, through the foundation laid by apostles and prophets. Ephesians 4:11 explains that the ascended Christ gave gifts to the church (in the form of people with special ministry gifts) including apostles, prophets, evangelists and pastors/teachers. The specified reason for this is to “prepare God’s people for works of service so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.” Because the church has not yet arrived at the place of maturity spoken of in the verse, these gifts are still given for the purpose of helping the church become mature. The church, now more than ever has a need for apostolic and prophetic foundations. Lost People Being fully engaged in God’s mission begins with our willingness to befriend and build relationships with lost people. Though it is the work of God’s Spirit to bring people into His kingdom, our responsibility is to be faithful in demonstrating God’s love to the lost through caring relationships and to be ready to share the gospel through the variety of methods God gives us. Participation Everyone in the body of Christ has been uniquely designed to serve God (Ephesians 2:10). It is the corporate responsibility of Jubilee Church to equip, encourage, and actively help every believer find the place where God has designed him or her to serve in the body of Christ. When Jubilee gathers together it is strengthened by the participation of its members in a variety of ways through the gifts of the Spirit (I Corinthians 12:1-14, 40; Romans 12:6-8; I Peter 4:10-11), “so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ” (I Peter 4:11). Grace Grace declares that God’s love for us is unconditional, unchanging, and complete. As believers, we are accepted just as we are because of the righteousness of Jesus that has been given to us. There’s nothing we can do to cause God to love us more and there’s nothing we can do to cause God to love us less. We value grace as the only true gospel. When the Galatians slipped away from it, Paul described them as “bewitched” (Galatians 3:1). Grace not only saves us (Ephesians 2:8), but “grace teaches us to say ‘no’ to ungodliness and worldly passions and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives” (Titus 3:12).God meant for us to be a motivated, inspired people who serve Him and others out of delight and joy, not out of fear or bondage! Creativity We value creativity because God is a creative God. In today’s rapidly changing world, forms and methods must be continually evaluated and if necessary, altered to fit new conditions. We encourage creativity and innovation, flexibility and adaptability as means of communicating and implementing new forms and methods more effectively. We are a permission-giving community that allows for creative ways to fulfill our mission and values. The Bible The Bible has the first and final say about who God is, who we are, how we can know Him and how we should live our lives. The Bible has authority because it is “God-breathed” (2 Timothy 3:16). It directs us as “a lamp to [our feet] and a light for [our] path” (Psalm 119:105) and is always relevant since “heaven and earth will pass away, but [God’s] words will never pass away” (Mark 13:31). Worship Worship is our primary and highest calling. Worship is a response and will grow or shrink in direct proportion to our view of God. God’s character and loving commitment to us are fuel for a passionate response of worship. As the Creator, God has invested His glory and image in us. Consequently, in all that we do, whether private or public, at home, work or school, we worship as we seek to accurately reflect the character of God in our lives (1 Corinthians 10:31). Because worship is not only heard and seen by God but others around us, it has the ability to reveal and declare God’s character and salvation. This is our joy and privilege, to worship God and reveal His glory and saving love.
