Jubilee Church began in 1995 when John Lanferman and his wife Linda moved to St. Louis to lead a small group of people who were gathering in the city. Over the course of a two-year period, new people were added in and a consistent meeting place was secured in Webster Groves. During the next several years the church lived with a sense of bigger things on the horizon, even though they weren’t observable. Wednesday night prayer meetings were a staple of the church, and God showed His faithfulness time and time again. We felt stirred to pray for people in their 20’s, though we only had one person in that age group apart of the church at that time. Several months later we saw a number of people in their 20’s saved and added to the group. We also prayed often for a new building. We felt God wanted to give us a building in a more public location that would enable us to reach more people than we were able to with our building in Webster Groves. In October of 2006, after nearly 4 years of praying, God answered, and a building was purchased near the corner of Kingshighway Boulevard and Chippewa Street in the South City area. Renovation on the building was completed in April of 2007, at which time the church began holding Sunday morning meetings there. Later that year Bryan Mowrey assumed the role of Senior pastor, overseeing Jubilee Church as a whole. Since the founding of Jubilee Church, we have had a vision to see 20 locations across the St. Louis metropolitan area. In August of 2008, after much preparation and a series of preview services, we launched a second location in Wentzville led by Rick Hein. In September of 2009 the Jubilee city location found itself outgrowing it’s Sunday meeting space, so we added a second service, now meeting at 9am and 11am to enable further growth. The year 2010 has seen the launch of our third location in Washington Missouri. We are excited to see what the future has in store as we continue in our mission of connecting people to Jesus throughout the St. Louis metropolitan area. |
